Hi! I’m Janelle Ritchie, M.A., CCC-SLP, but more often referred to as “Miss Janelle” or “Miss Nelle.” Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to support children of all ages with a variety of speech and language challenges in hospital outpatient, private practice, public schools, and via tele-therapy.
I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and I am licensed by the State of Michigan. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Wayne State University.
I value building a strong rapport with the children and families I serve, as I believe that a strong client-clinician relationship is the key to successful, long-lasting outcomes in therapy. Learning should be fun! I engage my clients in a way that allows them to be creative, laugh and show pride in their successes. I also consider myself a life-long learner. The field of speech-language pathology is constantly evolving, and I am committed to staying up-to-date with the newest research so that I can provide my clients and their families with the most impactful treatment techniques.
When I’m not working, I’m busy making memories with my husband, Jonathan (fun fact—he’s also a speech-language pathologist!), two young daughters, and golden doodle, Bowie. I enjoy going on walks, cozying up with a good book, taking on home renovation projects, and shopping (hello, Target).
I am truly grateful to be a small part of the journeys of the children and families that I work with. Whether it’s a child saying their very first word, finally being understood by friends and family, or forming their first meaningful friendship–I feel incredibly blessed to witness and cheer on children during these accomplishments, no matter how big or small.
